A resume is an imaginary handshake. Thanks to him, we will make a first impression about the person. When shaking hands, we try not to make the grip too strong, but also vague. 1. INSTEAD OF HOBBIES VOLUNTEERING

Let's start with the first question: "Why should HR players in an IT company care that you play the guitar?" If you have pursued one of your hobbies professionally or as a volunteer (for example, scouting, student parliaments, etc.), do not be afraid to add it to the category of extracurricular activities or volunteering. The employer is always interested in being active. Thanks to that, he knows that you are not lazy and you are interested in what is happening around you.

We recommend omitting unnecessary information about cooking, skiing, and horseback riding. Of course, if it has nothing to do with the job you are interested in.

2. BE CRITICAL TO YOURSELF

People who make tenders in companies have probably had a lot of resumes in their hands during their careers. If you do not want your CV to end up among others, you must differentiate yourself from your competition as much as possible, but also relevantly.

We have specific experience in this area when a student of political science in the fifth year applied for an internship at the office. His biography included only "lifeguard in the Work and Travel program".

If you have little experience in addition to school, don't be afraid to go on an unpaid internship. At least you won't be ashamed of a blank resume after school.

3. CHECK THE DATA BY YOURSELF

It happened to us many times that we selected the candidate according to the CV, but because he made bad phone contact, we called someone completely different. If you report somewhere, check your mailbox more often. If you don't answer any longer, no one will be waiting for you. They will contact another candidate. Also, check the time and duration of previous brigades/internships. It usually happens that the order does not match the calendar months.

4. CURRICULUM VITAE MUST HAVE A DESIGN

We live in the 21st century. There are many ways in which a CV can be processed in an interesting and functional way. You don't even need to be technically proficient. If you apply to a public institution, all you have to do is create one on the Europass platform. Forget about Word today. Use cv constructor.

In the case of the private sector, it is better to have a CV processed graphically, for example in the Canva program. You can win with it and you will have a higher chance of success right away. When saving your CV, always pay attention to its name. It is ideal to mention the name and surname in the title of the document so that HRista can quickly find it among others.

5. DESCRIBE IN DETAIL YOUR PREVIOUS WORK

Don't be afraid to write a few bullets about what exactly your role was in your previous positions. Employers are happy to read this to get a closer idea of what you can do for their company.

If you don't have a lot of experience, don't despair. You are a student and you have enough time to get them. You have to start somewhere. CV constructor will help you with it.

6. ALSO ADD YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK PROFILES

Employers routinely look at candidates' profiles on social media to find out more. If you have profiles open there, don't be afraid to mention them. In this article, you will learn how to fill LinkedIn to help you find a job or internship.

7. A CURRICULUM VITAE PHOTO IS COMMON

The human face of HRists looks better than just a piece of text. Definitely don't forget her. You will be different from those who do not have photos on their CV. Try to tell her about your personality. Of course, it doesn't have to be a passport photo, but a certain amount of formality is expected.
